Time is on my side...or is it?

Although it is well past Christmas and New Year's now I just wanted to say...

I am so thankful my husband and I were able to go spend Christmas this year with my family as it may be the last Christmast we get to do that for a few years. (praying that is not the case)

My parents will be moving back to the US after living in the UK for about 6 years. They've spent long periods of time away from the UK while I have stayed on so in many ways I am prepared to be apart from them; however, I think there will definitely be times when the ocean of distance between me and my parents and siblings will seem a bit overwhelming. Visits will not be as frequent as either side would like.

The next 2 months will fly by...

Absence makes the heart grow...

So it has kind of been a while since I last updated.

Work has been keeping me pretty busy. I'm trying to be more pro-active with my interests but to be honest I'm not a very pro-active person. I've started my other blog (the one primarily about cooking) and I've got a voice lesson booked in for this month with a vocal teacher. Two things I told myself I wanted to do before my 25th birthday which is fast approaching. I've also take a couple very very small steps towards starting up a contact group for American women living in the North East. So in some ways, this pro-active thing is working.

My intent through this next year is to really try to battle my natural instinct to just sit by and let stuff happen or not happen and to try to be actively doing and searching.

So here goes :)

Progress

Hello folks!

Currently working on a new blog at wordpress so apologies for the major inactivity. Shall hopefully post an update once that one is set up. Plans for new blog involve cooking/baking projects as well as updates on life. That is the plan anyways.

Thanks!

Farewell Christmas...

Well Christmas is long past, and today the christmas decorations came down. yes i know i'm a little behind. or a lot behind. But often it is so hard to say goodbye (if only for a little while) to christmas time in all its splendor. So here is a little farewell image in honour of our first (dying) christmas tree, in our first flat, on our first christmas as a married couple.

and another photo in homage to that wonderful film, 'White Christmas',

New Year's Resolution(s)

I've decided that there are several things I would like to do in the New Year. Over the last year I have come to the realisation that I am sadly one who looks at and admires the skills of others, wishes fondly that I could do the same, but never actually pursue these things. Therefore! This year, I am going to do my best to make sure I at least TRY to participate in the things that I love and interest me. Here is a working list;

1) Have planned at least 1 wedding for a someone by the end of the year
2) Have set up some sort of gameplan for the possibility of becoming a wedding planner
3) Take a culinary course
4) Take a photography course
5) Develop a sense of motivation! haha in order to be consistant about exercising.
6) try making a new food dish at least once a week.
7) be creative whenever possible :)

That's all for now, but I'm sure I'll think of more. :)

Where the Tree Tops Glisten...

So it is 10 days til christmas and I've yet to buy any christmas gifts! how terrible is that? Granted there isn't really any money to buy christmas gifts with, but even so, not even bought stocking stuffers. for shame! I have, however; managed to decorate a little in the flat, which has made everything feel a little more christmasy.

I've put lights on the mantle piece, but obviously not in this photo.

I have since put fairy lights around the frame.

I wish i had a better camera...
Anyway, Merry Christmas!

oops

Note to self: check spelling of important titles before saving forever!

my husband informed me i've spelled Geordy incorrectly, and considering he is one...it is deeply offensive to him. I feel ashamed. And I don't think I can change the title of the blog once it's made!! :P Doh.
